Chocolate Hazelnut Spread- Homemade Nutella

This chocolate hazelnut spread is a great alternative to the oil and processed sugar filled store bought version. Made with unrefined sugar, you can treat yourself without all the unhealthy additions. It's great spread on fruit, bread, or even in your oatmeal or smoothie.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup roasted hazelnuts soaked and drained to make it smoother
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons almond milk or milk of choice
  • 8 dates
  • 1/3 cup coconut palm sugar  or other unrefined sweetener like more raw dates
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a food processor, blender or high speed blender and puree until smooth.
  2.  If using a high speed blender this will only take a few minutes. Traditional food processors or blenders will take longer, but eventually the mixture will come out nice and smooth. If you want a thinner mixture, then you can always add more milk.
