    Mix in Ideas

The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it any way you like! If you add anything for crunch, make sure to mix in it just before serving. Here are a few ideas for more fillings to add flavor, texture, and nutrition:

    • Almonds
    • Walnuts
    • Pecans
    • Flax seeds
    • Granola
    • Raspberries
    • Blueberries
    • Pineapple
    • Mango
    • Strawberries
    • Banana
    • Protein powder
A spoon getting a scoop of peach oats out of a glass jar on a green towel

    Preparation Tips

    • Make sure to use rolled oats, quick cooking oats will result in a thin and mushy texture.
    • If you are gluten-free read the label to ensure the oats are gluten-free.
    • Yogurt helps to make this extra creamy but you can leave it out if you prefer.
    • You can also keep the creamy texture if you leave out the yogurt by using a thick and creamy milk like coconut milk.
    • Leave out the chia seeds if you don't care for them.
    • Using a sweetener is optional. Maple syrup is my go-to choice, but feel free to select your favorite.

    Storage Tips

    • Seal the mixture in an airtight container.
    • Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, and up to 3-5 days.
    • Note that the longer they are stored, the softer the texture will be.

    Common Questions

Can you put fruit in overnight oats the night before?

You certainly can! This makes it even easier because there is nothing left to do in the morning!

Are overnight oats good for you?

As long as you make them with healthy wholesome ingredients, like in this recipe, yes overnight oats are a healthy choice. They're filled with nutrients and fiber to keep you full and satisfied.

Can you eat overnight oats 2 days later?

Yes you can! As long as your ingredients are fresh, overnight oats will keep for up to 5 days. The texture is best within 24 hours, as they continue to soften over time.

How do you make oatmeal ahead of time?

Mix the oats with your liquid of choice and allow to sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. See the recipe for more details.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup fresh or frozen peaches , chopped or mashed
    • ½ cup rolled oats , gluten-free if needed (see note)
    • ¼ cup plain dairy free yogurt , see note
    • 1 tablespoon chia seeds , can omit if you don’t like them
    • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener of choice , I used maple syrup (optional for added sweetness)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • ⅛ - ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
    • Pinch of salt
    • ½ - ¾ cup dairy free milk of choice , depending on how thick you like them (the creamier the milk the richer the flavor will be)

    Instructions

    • Add all ingredients into a bowl, jar or air tight container. Mix well, if using a jar you can put the lid on and shake it to combine. Transfer to a jar or airtight container if using a mixing like bowl.
    • Allow to set in the fridge overnight or for at least 2 hours.
    • Enjoy!

    Notes

    • Don’t use quick cooking oats or the end result will be too soft and not as thick.
    • You can omit the yogurt but it gives a creamier end result. You can also use a thick and creamy milk like coconut milk from the can to get the same creamy flavor.

I left out the chia seeds because I don't like the texture and it was still amazing!
