This smoothie is one of my favorite ways to start the day. The mix of ingredients makes a perfect combo of creamy, tangy and sweet without the addition of extra sugar!

Smoothies are a life saver for busy people who still want to enjoy a satisfying, healthy, and filling meal. One, it's super easy to prepare; and two, you can sip while multitasking! Plus, smoothies like this one pack in vitamins, minerals, protein, and probiotics keeping you full and healthy.

    Ingredients

Just a handful of simple ingredients are all you need to make this tasty smoothie:

    • Frozen banana
    • Frozen berries
    • Dairy-free plain yogurt
    • Dairy-free milk
    • Almond butter
Bowls with ingredients needed to make a dairy free banana berry smoothie

How To Make A Berry Banana Smoothie

    It's as easy as 1, 2, well, that's it!

    1. Blend everything in a blender.Top view of a blender with a purple banana berry smoothie in it

    Serving suggestions

This smoothie can serve as a small meal all by itself. But if you want a little something extra on the side, or even a lot extra for a full brunch spread, try pairing it with these recipes:

    • Vegan and Gluten-Free Banana Oat Blender Muffins
    • Healthy Breakfast Cookies
    • Fluffy Vegan Buttermilk Pancakes
    • Homemade Hash Browns
    • Fruit Salad
    • Easy Vegan Mushroom Bacon

No matter how or when you enjoy this Banana Berry Smoothie, top it with creamy Vegan Whipped Cream to make it extra special!

    Add in suggestions

Pack in some extra nutrients by adding any of the following:

    • Leafy greens, like spinach or chard.
    • Oats.
    • Chia or flax seeds.
    • Nuts, such as cashews or walnuts.
    • Protein powder

    Preparation tips

    • Any dairy free milk will work for this recipe, my favorite is coconut since it's extra creamy, but you can use cashew, almond, or any other dairy free milk you choose.
    • Frozen berries are not only convenient but they give this smoothie its wonderful texture. If you use fresh, you'll want to add in some ice cubes.
    • Same goes for the frozen banana. It will add the right texture, and you don't have to worry about the banana spoiling before you can use it! If all you have is fresh though, it will work, just throw in a couple ice cubes.
    • You can use any yogurt you like, but know that if it's sweetened you may want less banana so it isn't overly sweet.
    • Prepare this smoothie ahead of time by measuring out the ingredients and storing them portioned in jars. I'd keep the frozen ingredients in freezer, and the refrigerated ingredients (and almond butter if using) in the fridge. In the morning, dump into a blender and blend!
    • You can also freeze the fully blended smoothie and re blend it to serve.

    Common Questions

Are mixed berry smoothies good for you?

They are! Especially if you keep the ingredients simple and healthy. Berry smoothies pack in a ton of antioxidants and nutrients, and this one in particular also has protein and probiotics, making it even healthier.

    Is banana good in smoothies?

Yes! Bananas add such great flavor to smoothies, but they also help to make a thick and creamy texture. Plus, bananas give a burst of energy while supplying us with potassium and vitamin C and helping to aid digestion!

What berries are good in smoothies?

Any berry you like! I used a mixed berry blend that features blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries in this recipe. Strawberries can be added as well. Enjoy all of them together, or try them one at a time for a variety of flavors.
